CODE OF CONDUCT
Don’t be a cheat!
What counts as cheating?
Cheating is anything you do to give yourself an unfair advantage over other players. That includes rigging game outcomes, abusing bugs, running multiple accounts, and (the big one) using third-party software.
Cheating goes against everything fair competition stands for. If you get caught, the penalties are serious. See our Code of Conduct for the full picture.
What is third-party software?
Third-party software is any app or program that messes with the game or gives you an edge you didn't earn. This includes:
- Mods and hacks. Programs that change how the game works, mess with dice probabilities, or modify the game client.
- Bots. Scripts or services that play the game for you, make moves on your behalf, or run games without a human at the controls.
- Assistance programs. Any software that reads the board and tells you what to play or makes decisions for you.
- Data manipulation tools. Anything designed to alter game data, fake progress, or create in-game currency out of thin air.
Using any of these puts your account at risk and ruins the experience for everyone else.
How do you catch cheaters?
We use a mix of automated systems and hands-on investigation. Our tools look for unusual gameplay patterns, statistical outliers, and suspicious account behavior. We also follow up on reports from the community.
We don't share the details of how our detection works. That would just help cheaters work around it.
What happens if I get caught?
Using third-party software, hacks, or automation of any kind gets you permanently banned. All involved accounts are closed. There are no warnings for this.
Other forms of cheating (match-fixing, manipulating Elo / Crowns / Tournament Points, tournament rigging, farming seasonal leaderboards through arranged games) carry penalties ranging from temporary bans to permanent closure, depending on how bad it is. Check Section 7 of our Code of Conduct for the full penalty breakdown. How do I make sure I'm playing fair?
How do I make sure I'm playing fair?
- Use your own brain. That's the whole point of the game.
- Don't install or run anything that connects to the game outside of the official app.
- If you find a bug, report it through the contact form. Don't exploit it.
- Play with integrity. A win you actually earned feels better anyway.
