Tourney points

Compete in tournaments, showcase your skills, and get ready to become the World Champion in Backgammon Masters seasons!
Tournament points are used to evaluate a player’s skill level in tournaments. Since these competitions involve real-time matches against other players, participation requires a significant time commitment—usually 20 minutes or more per tournament.
How Are Tournament Points Earned?
Tournament points are awarded after all matches in a tournament are completed. Once the tournament concludes, players receive a detailed results report. Players who place in prize positions earn tournament points based on their final ranking.
The calculation of tournament points is influenced by the base value of the tournament, the number of participants, their skill coefficients, and the prize placement. It is worth noting that in classic tournaments, the number of participants can vary significantly. In "Sit & Go" tournaments, only the winner receives tournament points.
Tournament Type | Base Value |
---|---|
Classic | 50-100 |
Sit & Go | 25 |
The skill coefficients of participants determine the difficulty of winning the tournament. For example, if more than 50% of players in a tournament have high Elo levels, it becomes extremely difficult for a beginner. Thus, we take into account the skill level of participants and either add or subtract tournament points in the final calculation. If a player with an Elo rating of 1500 wins a "Sit & Go" tournament where the remaining participants have an Elo rating above 2000, they receive additional points. Conversely, players with below-average ratings will negatively impact the final calculation.
Elo Levels | Skill Coefficient |
---|---|
1 | -25% |
2 | -10% |
3-4 | - |
5 | +25% |
6 | +50% |
7 | +75% |
If you manage to place in the prize ranks, you receive the same share of tournament points as the gold prize pool.
Participating in Season
By registering for a tournament, you enter a competition with players from all over the world for the title of World Champion. It is recommended to start playing tournament games at the beginning of the season, as this gives you a better chance of accumulating more points before it ends.
If you find global competition too difficult, we recommend participating in your country's ranking. To do this, confirm your country in the settings, and you will automatically be included in the regional rankings.
Additionally, you can compete against your friends. In the "Friends" section, you can enable the Tournament Points Leaderboard. Even more exciting is inviting a friend to a tournament and climbing the ranks together.
If you don’t succeed this time, don’t worry! At the start of a new season, all players begin collecting tournament points from scratch.
