Crowns

Seasonal Competitions. Collect as many crowns as possible by the end of the season to compete for the title of Crown Master.

Crowns are the main competitive system in Backgammon Masters, reflecting a player's skill in quick games. This mode is the most popular because it doesn’t require long preparation or opponent selection, yet still provides the thrill of competition in the race for seasonal leadership. It’s ideal for players who visit the game regularly but only for short sessions (5-10 minutes at a time).

Earning Crowns

To earn crowns and participate in the rankings, simply play quick games—either stake games or weekly challenges. The number of crowns you receive depends on your opponent’s crown level. The more crowns your opponent has, the more you earn when you win. If your opponent has significantly fewer crowns than you, your reward will be lower.
Additionally, there is a newcomer bonus. A player starting the season receives 25% more crowns, but this bonus expires once they reach 500 crowns.
To explain how crowns are calculated, we’ve provided a table with crown distribution based on different rating levels. The first column represents Player A’s crowns at the start of the match, while the first row represents Player B’s crowns.
For example, if Player A starts the match with 1000 crowns and Player B has only 100 crowns, then Player A will receive only 14 crowns for a win.The least favorable match scenario occurs when Player A has 2000 crowns and Player B has 0 crowns, as the reward in this case is significantly lower.

As you can see, playing against an opponent with significantly fewer crowns than you is not very rewarding. However, since opponents in quick games are randomly assigned, it ultimately comes down to luck.

Important! If no crowns are awarded at the end of a match, it means the season has ended. During the off-season, games are unranked.

Participation in the Season

After completing your first match, you officially enter the seasonal competition. Since a season lasts several weeks, every player has the opportunity to fight for the top spot. If you’re competitive, we recommend starting from day one, as all players receive a season start notification.

Even if competing globally feels too challenging, you can rank within your country. Simply select your country in the game settings to join the local leaderboard.

Looking for a more personal challenge? Compete against your friends! In the game lobby, go to the Friends section, enable sorting by crowns, and you’ll see which of your friends holds the most crowns. Hopefully, you have friends ready to challenge you! Good luck in the seasons!

But don’t worry if you don’t reach your goal—each new season is a fresh start. At the beginning of a new season, all players start from scratch in the race for the top.
